Owl Hall (and other digital work)
Apart from being a traditional print reader (see Readers section) with an audio CD, Owl Hall also has additional digital content. There's a website that is referenced in the story that includes a blog area. As students read the book, they can visit the site to read the blog entries that Kara, the main character, writes. As well as reading the blog posts, students can post their own comments, give advice to Kara, say what they think about the story, and predict what will happen next. At one point in the story, Kara makes a video which she uploads to the site. Students can watch the video online and find out more about the other characters.
The story of Owl Hall also exists as a dramatised podcast. The podcast, which is available from OneStopEnglish, presents the story in a completely different way. Used together, the different components make Owl Hall a unique classroom and out-of-school resource.
